  • 1933 – In round 13 of a boxing match at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Primo Carnera knocks out Ernie Schaaf who died four days later.
  • 1940 – The Soviet Union begins mass deportations of Polish citizens from occupied eastern Poland to Siberia.
  • 1981 – A fire at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel–casino kills eight and injures 198.
  • 2013 – Thirty-six people are killed and 39 others are injured in a stampede in Allahabad, India, during the Kumbh Mela festival.


  • 1894- Harold Macmillan,  a British Conservative politician and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 10 January 1957 to 18 October 1963,. And was nicknamed “Supermac”. He is from that popular Macmillian publishing Family. He died 29 December 1986.
  • 1924 – Max Ferguson, Canadian radio host and actor (d. 2013)
  • 1944 – Peter Allen, Australian singer-songwriter, pianist, and actor (d. 1992)
  • 1974- Elizabeth Banks, American actress, director, and producer. She is that Actress who has played prominent roles in the films Seabiscuit, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Magic Mike XXL, The Hunger Games and Man on a Ledge. She also directed and starred in Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 and provided her voice for The Lego Movie.
